A Basic Understanding of MRVP for Foreigners

More and more people are finding Malta to be a great destination to live. For that reason, the influx of foreigners into the country has increased in the recent years. The best thing is that the Maltese government has responded to the changing dynamics of immigration immediately through some great policies. If you wish to live in the country forever, you will have to know about the MRVP, which is the Malta Residence and Visa Program.  Once you have fulfilled the requirements of this program, you and your coming generations will become permanent residents of the country and live the way you want.

The first thing you have to understand is that you will have to make Malta a great place when you move here. The government has already taken some great measures to ensure that. For example, you will not be able to qualify for the program if you have some criminal history. At the same time, global health insurance is your card to enter the country. You also have to ensure that you will be able to live comfortably with what you are already earning. If your yearly income is less than 100,000 euros, you might not be eligible for the program. More importantly, the source of this income has to be non-Maltese.

You will have to buy or rent a property in the country to show that you are really interested in living here. If you rent a property, you must not be paying anything less than 10,000 euros every year. If you are in any other part of the country than Gozo, you might have to maintain your yearly rent at 12, 000 euros. Of course, you can also own a property here and that must not be less than 320,000 euros. Your rented or owned property must remain in your possession for at least five years for you to be eligible for the program.
